In New Zealand and local casino operator SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has announced the resumption of a number of projects aimed at redeveloping its venues for the cities of Auckland and Hamilton.

The Auckland-headquartered firm used an official press release (pdf) to detail that its decision comes after the government of New Zealand reduced the threat level for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic from an intensity that had rendered such works impossible. It furthermore explained that it will be looking to partially re-open its four shuttered domestic venues should the strength of the nation’s lockdown drop by another stage, which could happen as soon as May 11.

Auckland action:

SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited stated that its redevelopment plans include the refurbishment of the premium gaming rooms inside its SkyCity Auckland property alongside the construction of a Food Republic-branded food and beverage outlet for the venue’s main casino floor. The firm pronounced that these are to be joined by a revamp of the New Zealand facility’s Aces Bar and the creation of a new in-house ‘entertainment zone’ as well as the premiere of a pair of attractions for the adjacent SkyCity Auckland Convention Centre.

Operator overhaul:

Some 77 miles to the south and the casino operator proclaimed that it has moreover restarted work on sprucing up the main casino floor within its SkyCity Hamilton property including redeveloping its selection of baccarat tables.
