Second petition over AGCs reopening

A second petition demanding that adult gaming centres in England should be allowed to reopen alongside the rest of non-essential retail, has been lodged by trade association BACTA.

The association wants AGCs to reopen on April 12, noting in its petition that the venues will be the only retail premises on England’s high streets that will have to remain closed.

“The sector has worked extensively with government to evidence the safety of its premises and their strict adherence to safety measures,” said the petition. As things stand, AGCs will not be allowed to open their doors again until May 17.

The petition insists that AGCs are an important part of the high street, bringing amenity, employment and economic activity to many communities and hundreds of jobs will be at risk if they cannot reopen on April 12.
