The pandemic of the coronavirus is accelerating and US land-based casinos have taken up measures to increase the safety of people. The President and CEO of the American Gaming Association, Bill Miller, has recently communicated with the gaming industry specifying that the communication with congress and administrative leaders is continuing.
Bill said: “We are communicating back to policymakers the steps that our members are taking to ensure employee and customer health and safety.” As Miller implies, they had a call with more than 50 representatives from government relations to discuss priorities and create an action plan to preserve both the industry as well as the health of its citizens.
A Case at the Mirage
MGM Resorts International has closed seven buffet offerings at the Las Vegas Strip during this week and there is a confirmed infected case who was a guest at The Mirage. The company has sanitized the casino and is in coordination with the Southern Nevada Health District to locate and notify the people who potentially had an encounter with the infected individual.
The corporation implied that they are aware that a New Yorker who stayed at the Mirage and was at the Women of Power Summit that took place from March 5th to 8th has been tested positive for the virus. Upon discovering this, the staff from Mirage started to work together with the health district to implement safety protocols and ensure the containment of the virus.
The Foxwoods Resort Casino implemented a series of methods to ensure the safety of their guests as well as employees by providing approximately 330 hand sanitizing stations. Additionally, sanitizing wipes are available throughout the casino and there is a core cleaning team that frequently cleans the slots, the door handles, and all of the other frequently touched points in the casino area.
A chief medical officer at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Dr Setu Vora implied that: “We take the health and safety of our guests and team members seriously. We have taken proactive, prevention steps in face of the COVID-19 threat”.
The Monarch Casino and Resort has implied that their quarter results have still not been impacted by the spread of the coronavirus. Furthermore, the company stated that their priorities remain the health and safety of their employees and guests and that they have taken all of the necessary precautions to disinfect the surroundings and monitor for changes.
