The Queensland government is not going to expand its investigation into the activities of its other casinos beyond that of Star Entertainment, it was announced this week.
The inquiry into Star’s activities in Queensland, mirroring those in neighbouring New South Wales, by the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation has raised questions about the Ville Casino in Townsville and The Reef Hotel Casino in Cairns.
Now Queensland Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman has refused to broaden the Star inquiry to include the other two casino operators on the grounds that it is already more broadly-based than the inquiry that investigated Star activities in NSW.
