The crowds are flocking back to Las Vegas as casino capacity is raised by Governor Steve Sisolak from 35 per cent to 50 per cent on Monday.

According to the New York Times, the news sparked a wild influx of gamblers over last weekend – even before the ruling took effect. Social media pictures showed huge crowds, albeit with face masks, crowding shoulder-to-shoulder on The Strip.

On Sunday Nevada health officials reported 222 more Covid-19 cases and the state’s figures rose to just under 300,000, well over half of them in Clark County, which includes Las Vegas. If the infection rate falls, the state has promised, it will allow more relaxation in the rules from May 1.
