Gross gambling revenue from all forms of gambling in the Philippines rose 14.4 per cent in 2021, with 4Q21 showing the strongest performance of the year as operating restrictions eased.

Total GGR came in at PHP113.09bn ($2.19bn), according to figures from the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR). That is still less than half of the PHP256.49bn recorded in 2019, but shows a stronger recovery than some other markets, such as Macau where GGR only reached 30 per cent of the pre-pandemic total.

For 4Q21, GGR was PHP34.52bn, the strongest quarter of the year before restrictions were once again imposed from mid-December to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.

Casinos in Manila’s Entertainment City posted a revenue gain of 20 per cent to PHP78.95bn, while those in the Clark Freeport Zone generated PHP8.72bn, up from PHP7.98bn. GGR at Fiesta casinos declined from PHP931m to PHP688.8m for the year.
