Leading French casino operator Groupe Partouche saw a sharp rise in turnover in the first quarter of 2022, up from a pandemic-hit €23.5m to €98.1m.
The company said that footfall at its venues was still impacted by health measures, there had been a substantial about-turn in its fortunes.
Its non-French locations, in Swtizerland and Belgium and that at Djerba in Tunisia, closed in the first quarter of 2021, were all back in action.
French casinos still needed a sanitary pass and tests plus a vaccination pass this year, helping to create a fall in visitors of one-third, but there was still a rise of over 30 per cent in income. Switzerland also had a vaccination pass but it was lifted in mid-February.
The group’s quarter showed GGR of €141.8m compared with €24.9m and net revenues of €82.3m compared with €22.3m. Total consolidated turnover was €98.1 compared with €23.5m.
The group has 41 casinos in total, employing 3,900 people.
