Ontario casinos open sportsbooks

Canadian casinos in the province of Ontario, have opened sportsbooks in brick-and-mortar venues, says CDC Gaming Reports.

The newsfeed said that among them are Caesars Entertainment and Great Canadian Entertainment. At least ten casinos opened public sportsbooks at their locations on Friday.

This is in addition to the 20-plus online sports betting sites that have been launched in the province – the most heavily populated in the country – in the past few months.

The decision by Ontario to move into the sports betting sector had been heavily influenced by the success of this type of betting south of the border in the past few years. Ontario is the first province so far in Canada to offer in-person sports betting in a casino.
