Novomatic has reported that visitor numbers are recovering well in arcades and casinos across Germany, Italy, Spain and the Balkans, as group-wide gaming operations resume.

The giant Austrian-based supplier and operator said that having implemented stringent safety protocols, its venues are relieved to be back in action.

Ryszard Presche, board member, said: “During the past weeks, we’ve had plenty of time to prepare a comprehensive catalogue of safety measures and protocols for the day, when we would be able to welcome players again in our venues.”

In every instance, the locations resumed operations in accordance with the relevant state requirements, he added.

“While in some countries the goal to ‘flatten the curve’ has already been achieved and with the loosening of the economic restrictions, life gradually returns to something resembling normality; in other countries with a stronger pandemic impact, governments are still cautious. Accordingly, the reopening schedule for the gaming venues strongly depends on the respective national – and in some cases regional – Covid-19 policy.”

In addition to implementing government requirements, the overall Novomatic organisation had its own set of protocols, developed by a multi-national committee of casino and arcade experts. High levels of personal protection equipment have been implemented, together with protection for guests, disinfection protocols, spacers between machines and tables and plexiglass screens.

The company noted its regret that in the UK, its Luxury Leisure Talarius adult gaming centres are still closed, but preparations are in hand ready for the official green light.

Presch added: “We are now live again with many of our group-wide gaming operations under the various international brands. Whereas these brands and the re-opening schedules in the countries may differ, one thing remains the same for all of them: We will ensure that our customers not only are safe but also feel safe and welcome.”
