Networking possible at digital ICE North America

The second ICE North America that was due to take place next month in New Orleans will now be an online event.

The online version will take place over the same dates, May 11-15, while the next physical event will take place in the same city in the spring of next year. Last year’s inaugural event was held in Boston.

Rory Credland of organiser Clarion Events told InterGaming this week: “We recognised the need to deliver the content even though we couldn’t deliver a physical event and so moved it online in order to assist the industry.”

Some of the content will match up with the programme that was devised for the original event and some will be additional. “One of the advantages of an online event is that the content can be tweaked right up until it take place, though much of the programme is now determined,” said Credland.

He added that there were challenges in transitioning a physical event into a digital one as Clarion’s previous experience has been in the running of physical trade shows.

Those wishing to take part simply register via the webite and Clarion then takes care of the back-end functions. “The platform has been created so that participants can network in a similar way to that in which they would at a physical event. We have used a company called SwapCard in order to introduce this networking capability.”

This means that there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions. They will be able to engage with the speakers after the sessions have concluded.
