A national lottery is being considered by Namibia, it was reported this week in Gaming for Africa.
The African country would use income from the lottery to clamp down on illegal gambling and at the same time raise revenues for good causes.
The country will step up its war against illegal gambling, which according to government sources involves as many as 20,000 unlicensed gaming machines.
Namibia has been planning to introduce a lottery for over 25 years, but it only passed a lotteries act in 2017. Now it has appointed a board to fast-track the plan and issue licences.
