In Nevada and the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino has reportedly announced that it will be re-launching its online sportsbetting app later this week after mothballing the service in mid-March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a Monday report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the Las Vegas Strip venue revealed that existing sportsbook customers will be able to use the service to place bets from nine o’clock in the morning on Thursday with all deposits and withdrawals being handled via the app.

Provisional prohibition:

Jay Kornegay, Sportsbook Vice-President for the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, reportedly told the newspaper that the mobile-friendly service is to be made available for at least eight hours every day although new customers will not be able to register or set up an account until his venue is allowed to re-open its land-based sportsbook.

“It’s an energy boost for everyone. We’re very thrilled to be back.”

Fight fascination:

The Las Vegas Journal-Review reported that the re-launch of the Nevada-facing mobile sportsbetting service has been timed to coincide with this Saturday’s behind-closed-doors UFC 249 extravaganza, which is expected to attract a large amount of action. Kornegay purportedly furthermore detailed that his venue may look to take advantage of this interest by keeping its app open long after the main bout between contenders Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson has kicked off.

Subsequent shift:

The newspaper moreover reported that only four Nevada online sportsbooks survived the March 17 coronavirus-related casino lockdown order from Governor Steve Sisolak while the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino’s move is being mirrored by the nearby South Point Hotel and Casino, which is to re-open its own mobile sportsbetting app from eleven o’clock in the morning tomorrow. Unlike its rival and this second Las Vegas venue will purportedly allow new customers to register for an account by visiting its valet parking area.
