The first ‘made in America – for America’ slots will this month go into South Florida casinos, reported Merkur Gaming Americas chief executive Charles Hiten from the Gauselmann Group stand yesterday.
The machines, Rapid Thunder and Big Deal Wheel, will go into Gulfstream Park and Magic City casinos, he said. They are both non-tribal locations and represent the beginning of a new era for the group’s transatlantic business.
“We want to move on from here to see our Las Vegas-developed games penetrate the whole of North America, after which we hope to see products come from both Europe and North America into the Latin American market.”
Merkur Gaming Americas established its own games development studio in Las Vegas in 2017, working on the adjustment of software from the European development offices to American requirements. Now for the first time some wholly developed slots emanating from that studio will make their debut in American casinos.
“It is a very important development for us,” said Hiten. “It is part of our strategy to create a games hub in the US.”
