Microgaming’s Mega Moolah, one of the most popular slot jackpots in the gambling industry, has paid out over $1 billion to players since its creation in the early 2000s. Mega Moolah has broken a plethora of jackpot records and has a long-standing battle with Mega Fortune, another slot industry giant. Currently, Mega Moolah holds the record for the highest payout ever. This record was set in September 2018 after a player won €18.9  million.

What accounts for such large jackpots? Mega Moolah’s slots use a linked network, so the wagered money gathers over time and can reach extremely high amounts. Eventually, one random winner will take home a huge prize. Over the years, Mega Moolah has made millionaires out of 80 players!

Recently, Microgaming has kick-started the trend of re-establishing old franchises. This first started when the company released Atlantean Treasures: Mega Moolah. The slot game was released more than 10 years after the original one, which had a desert theme. The new, ocean-themed installment was linked to Mega Moolah’s main progressive jackpot, which gives players the potential for massive wins.

Atlantean Treasures: Mega Moolah was met with widespread popularity, so released an additional expansion to the franchise on May 5th, 2020. This third installment, Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah, features 5 reels and 243 paylines. The game is themed after Alice in Wonderland, and players aim to help the Mad Hatter collect coins and fill up his teapot. Doing so can help them reach the Jackpot Bonus Wheel, which gives players a chance to win one of Mega Moolah’s four progressive jackpots.

Industry experts predict that Microgaming’s expansion of its Mega Moolah franchise will pressure other slots developers into also extending their own franchise networks. Otherwise, Microgaming’s competitors will not hold a chance of beating the esteemed jackpot payout record. Playtech and NetEnt are two of Microgaming’s top competitors, so we can reasonably expect them to develop sequels of their top games.

What Else Is New for Microgaming?

Microgaming’s expansive library boasts over 1,000 titles and is expanding to cover over 240 partner titles throughout 2020. The first of these games, 2by2 Gaming’s Wizard of the Woods, was released on May 4th. Realistic Games’ Bank of the Nile was released on May 7th, and its Bar-X Game Changer will be released on May 28th. Another one of Microgaming’s partners, Booming Games, released Gunspinner on May 14th. Crazy Tooth Studio developed Lady Earth exclusively for Microgaming, and it was also released on May 14th. May 21st will see the release of Gamevy’s Cheeky Fruits 6 Deluxe.

According to Microgaming’s Commercial Director, Leon Thomas, the company is aiming to increase the diversity of products that it offers to customers. Microgaming simplifies the iGaming process by allowing players to play so many slot games on just one platform. Microgaming currently offers games (both exclusive and non-exclusive) from 45+ partner companies, and this number will surely increase throughout 2020.
