The ravages of the pandemic has caused a fall of US$372.5m in the revenues from Maryland’s gambling in the fiscal year ending June 30.
The US state closed the casinos mid-March, causing the drop of $149m for its six casinos, reports the Maryland Lottery and Gaming authority.
The figures say that the casinos generated $1.2bn in the year, down 23 per cent on the previous year. The authority reports that with 25 per cent or 50 per cent capacity limits when they reopen, the casinos are unlikely to match the pre-pandemic revenues.
