North America’s Major League Soccer has suspended all games for the next 30 days due to the ongoing spread of coronavirus in the US.

The US Soccer Federation has also called off all men’s and women’s games in March and April – however, it remains to be seen after that date what the decision will be.

MLS commissioner Don Garber said: “This year’s MLS soccer season kicked off on February 29, from March 12 with the football association continually reviewing options.

“Our clubs were united today in the decision to temporarily suspend our season, based on the advice and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Public Health Agency of Canada and other public health authorities and in the best interest of our fans, players, officials and employees.”
