Macau’s casinos are on the up again after recording gross gaming revenue of MOP10.32bn (US$1.27bn) for February.
That is the third-highest monthly GGR figure since January 2020, despite the month having no public holidays and fewer days than January.
According to information from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the February total was 33.1 per cent higher than February 2022 and around 11 per cent lower than January, when GGR reached MOP11.58bn ($1.43bn) – its highest peak since January 2020.
Nevertheless, the figure for February is still only 41 per cent of the MOP25.04bn ($3.1bn) recorded in February 2019.
Gaming revenues had slumped as low as MOP398m ($49m) in July 2022, at the height of Macau’s first main Covid outbreak.
