The Gauteng Gambling Board has issued operating licences to 4Racing so that it can assume the management of Highveld Racing.

This meant the transfer of the Totalizator bookmaker and race meeting licences from Phumelela Gaming and Leisure  at Turffontein Racecourse, reports Gaming for Africa.

The transfer of the operating licences will give 4Racing the opportunity to stabilise the sector and continue the employment of 1,000 Phumelela staff.

Phumelela was a victim of the pandemic impact in South Africa.
