A shock for the European gaming industry came last week with the news that John Carroll, the well-known public relations consultant, had taken his own life at the age of 51.

John, who lived in Dorsten, Germany, had been in the games and gaming machine industry for most of his working life. Latterly he ran Carroll Consulting, his own business, representing many well-known companies, including Gauselmann Group, SuzoHapp, CPI, Ideal, Apex, Amatic, AMUsys, Spirit Gaming and G-Digital.

Details of his death are not currently known, although it is believed that he took his own life on December 21 after a period of what close friends describe as depression. He had a partner and two children from his first marriage.
