Rules covering health and safety precautions at Indiana casinos have been issued by the US state’s gaming commission.

They include daily health screening for employees and guests will be screened on entry. Social distancing will be observed on the casino floor and back-of-house and occupancy levels of no more than 50 per cent will be observed.

Separate entrances and exits will be used for the venues, automatic door opening employed and a heavy programme of disinfection will be in force with hand santisers. Elevators should have a maximum of three passengers and air quality monitored with smoking only permitted in designated areas.

Slots and other gaming devices should be switched off to ensure a six-foot gap between players and table games should be limited to three guests with four at roulette and six at craps games. Touching of cards should be limited and dice disinfected between shooters. Poker rooms and pai gow will not open initially.

Employees and guests have to wear masks and wherever possible full personal protection equipment for both staff and guests if requested. Machines should be cleaned between players and hand sanitisers made available.

Casinos are permitted to request a reduction in opening hours to cover slow periods or to deep clean. There should be no F&B on the casino floor and no live shows. The state is actively considering reopening its casinos in mid-June.
