The number of slot machines in the US and Canada should increase 0.7 per cent this year to more than one million units.
This is according to Todd Eilers of Eilers and Krejcik Gaming’s forecasts in the Eilers: Slot and Table Count – Q319 report. The numbers should move up 0.9 per cent in each of the next two years, Eilers says.
He estimates the number of machines rose 0.5 per cent in the third quarter to 999,000 thanks to growth in US tribal, slot routes and Canada.
The US commercial casino installed base fell 1.2 per cent to 414,500 on removals in the north-east, midwest and south. However, the commercial slot market remains healthy as slot revenue continues to grow, Eilers said.
Table game installed base inched up 0.9 per cent to 30,100, driven by expansions in US tribal and Canadian casinos. Eilers expects the table game installed base to increase 1.8 per cent this year, 1.2 per cent next year and 1.5 per cent in 2021.
