There are prospects of the restrictions on visas to enter Macau from mainland China being lifted in May according to reports from the resort area as the numbers of coronavirus cases in Macau stay low.

The territory has had just 45 cases of the virus for some days and the number is not increasing.

However, says Fantini’s Gaming Report, the number of visitors from Hong Kong will probably remain restricted as the virus cases continue to rise, yesterday standing at over 1,000.

The gaming revenues in Macau remain severely subdued, with revenue in the first quarter down 59.88 per cent at US$3.8bn.
