Landmark London entertainment venue the Hippodrome Casino will reopen tomorrow, August 15, unveiling a new 3,000sq.ft multi-level terrace bar, The Rooftop.
Designed by The Garden Builders and installed during lockdown following a £3m investment, The Rooftop will comprise two floors of gaming, two bars and open-air seating.
The first two floors will be open for drinks, food, and gambling with the upper terrace dedicated solely to food and drinks, all with seated service. Smokers are in luck, with smoking permitted in designated areas across all three floors.
It will provide significant additional space for those looking to be outside, which gives an additional opportunity for people in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The focal tiled bar will comprise smoked oak and brushed basalt flooring, artificial grass and hanging steel grey planters. Below the bar area, the fourth-floor space will include gaming tables and electronics.
The bar will serve an extensive selection of spirits, draught and bottled beers, cocktails and wines by the glass and bottle, hand chosen by head of wine Salvo Russo. Guests looking to eat can order from the 24-hour menu.
As well as The Rooftop, The Hippodrome’s six floors of indoor gaming, premium restaurant Heliot Steak House and eight bars will reopen 24 hours a day from midday. Reconfigured to ensure one metre plus social distancing throughout, a one-way system, Perspex screening, round-the-clock cleaning and sanitisation stations have also been installed across the venue, with face masks available to all staff and customers.
Simon Thomas, CEO and chairman of Hippodrome Casino, said: “It has been an unprecedented few months and while closing the Hippodrome was the last thing we wanted, we were determined to use this time to grow and develop our offering.
“Alongside redeveloping our terrace space, we have worked tirelessly to introduce extensive hygiene measures ahead of reopening to ensure the wellbeing of our patrons and staff. We are incredibly excited to welcome our customers back and The Rooftop is an integral part of this new chapter.”
