The Glasgow Merchant City Casino in Scotland is to enjoy a £3.5m facelift by owner Grosvenor Casinos.

The refurbishment will create a new gaming, dining and sports viewing destination, but the venue will remain open throughout, with 13 new positions created, including that of head chef.

A new bar and restaurant with 70 covers is in the plan, plus new table games and a premium viewing area to watch live sport.

Debbie Johnston, general manager of the casino, said: “Glasgow’s hospitality sector was hard hit during the pandemic, but Grosvenor Casino’s major investment in Merchant City shows there is real confidence in the city’s recovery. We can’t wait to welcome customers old and new where they will be able to socialise, kick back and let their hair down for an unforgettable entertainment experience.”
