It has tendered in competition with other operators to take over the WestSpeil licences in Aachen, Bad Oeynhausen, Dortmund-Hohensyburg and Duisburg, with the possibility of opening two more in the state.
Said Paul Gauselmann, founder of the company: “We are delighted with this important new milestone in the 60-year history of our company and proud that this is in our home state. This is the most populous federation state, with 18 million people.”
David Schnabel (pictured), managing director of Merkur Spielbanken, the Gauselmann group casino division, said: “We are now about to continue the success story of the casinos in North-Rhine Westphalis, together with the WestSpiel Group, and carry the tradition forward.
“The Gauselmann Group is known throughout the gaming industry for its pioneering innovations. In the casino segment in particular we have introduced numerous innovations in recent years that, by establishing new processes and work-flows in many areas, allow us to focus more strongly on our service concepts.
“Here we can draw upon our long experience with the operation of 800 arcades across Europe. No other company on the German market has this level of experience.”
