Gauselmann ready for gaming industry reopening

The Gauselmann Group is preparing for the reopening of the industry as soon as possible and meanwhile is continuing high levels of employment among its 14,000 workforce involved in over 700 Merkur arcades across Europe, many hundreds of sports betting shops and 10 casinos.

Despite no revenue from its locations because of the shutdown, the group has its workforce on part-time employment and all of its directors and managers have moved on to 50 per cent of salaries to help the group-wide effort. Other measures to ensure liquidity include negotiating temporary rent reductions with landlords.

The group believes that there will be a speedy reopening in its home market, Germany, and urges the authorities to enact it promptly to reduce the damage done by the illegal online gambling market.
