Full House gets Illinois casino

The choice for the provider of a new casino and entertainment destination in Waukegan, Illinois, US, has fallen to Full House Resorts.

The company’s American Place gaming proposal was selected yesterday by the Illinois Gaming Board. It was one of five proposals submitted for the site which resulted in a lengthy and competitive selection process launched in 2019.

Daniel Lee, CEO of Full House, said: “We will begin working immediately on American Place, first with the development and construction of a temporary casino while the permanent facility is being built. We expect to open the temporary casino in the middle of 2022.”

The location will be aimed at the nearby Chicago population and will compete with a new casino in the city itself – also currently in the selection process. The final building should be ready to open at Waukegan in 2024.

The venue will have a casino and sportsbook, boutique hotel with 20 villas, 1,500-seat live entertainment venue, restaurant and other F&B and will be followed by another phase to include a four-star hotel with 150 rooms.
