The Entain Group’s Australian brands, Ladbrokes and Neds, will no longer have their logos on the shirts of sports teams in a reaction to the growth of opposition to gambling advertising.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Entain is engaged in a general reduction of sponsorship in sport. It said in a statement: “While we have had many great partners in this space over a long period of time, we understand some of the community sentiment around this and feel t is the right time to step away from this area.”
Entain has sponsored several NRL (National Rugby League) and AFL (Australian rules football) teams in the past, including the Brisbane Broncos, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Brisbane Lions. It also has sponsorships in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and A-League (association football).
