William Hill’s European business has come under the microscope of Entain, the owner of the Ladbrokes and Coral brands, according to the weekend press reports.
The William Hill assets outside of the US have been up for grabs since Caesars Entertainment bought it for £2.9bn. The casino group said that it did not want the bookmaker’s 1,400 UK betting shops and online business in Europe.
Currently, the favourite to buy is Apollo Global Management and it is expected that the price will be around £1.2bn, but 888 Holdings are also in the frame and so is Fred Done, owner of Betfred, who wants the betting shops.
