Initial reports from reopening US casinos provide some encouragement for operators, says Fantini’s Gaming Report.

The online news service said that both Louisiana and Arkansas casinos outperformed their limited capacities.

Daily revenue of 77 per cent of last May was achieved by Louisiana, but with only 25 per cent capacity. In Arkansas, the Southland Park and Oaklawn Park ran at 75 per cent on last year with one-third capacity.

Nevertheless the full month in Louisiana was down 66 per cent because the venues did not reopen until May 18 and one location, Diamond Jacks, is still closed. For much the same reason, the Arkansas revenues fell 64 per cent with just 14 days’ operations.

Caesars’ regional casinos grew EBITDA and margins from reopening on May 18 through to June 18, up 35-40 percent, while Nevada casino EBITDA fell 70-80 percent and revenue was down 56-58 percent.
