The validity of the current voluntary Dutch gambling advertising code has been extended until June amid the ongoing review into new regulations.
The Advertising Code for Online Games of Chance came into force in December 2021 and was initially set to expire on Wednesday.
However, while the Netherlands continues to review the forthcoming ban on untargeted advertising, the code – which comes on top of existing regulation and sees providers make voluntary agreements to cut advertising – has now been extended.
A new date of June 1 has been set, although the date will be brought forward if the wider advertising review is concluded before then.
Dutch trade associations VNLOK and NOGA will carry out the evaluation of the Advertising Code for Online Games of Chance alongside an independent research bureau, broadcasters, media parties, consumer organisations and licence holders.
