Dutch strategy to combat gambling addiction

The Dutch gaming authority, the KSA, has invited interested parties to develop a strategy to combat gambling addiction that may result from the changes in the Dutch regulations to allow legalised online gambling from July 1, 2021.

The KSA notes that the new regulations, the Remote Gambling Act, demand that not only is online gambling legalised from that date, but that there should be a tightening of the requirements for addiction prevention.

The KSA wants to set out a strategy for assistance to addicts that will be available 24/7. A market consultation is now under way, led by the KSA, with the hope that suggestions for a strategy may be collated by March 13.
