In an attempt to clean up the operation of gambling machines in snack bars and other catering establishments in the Netherlands, the gaming authority, the KSA, has put out guidance to local authorities to help them to determine whether a machine has a correct licence issued to the appropriate catering company.
The KSA has drawn up a list of venues in a number of municipalities that may have the incorrect presence of machines.
The move results from an investigation on a large scale in 2018, taking in more than 70 catering businesses with slots. At that time the investigation was to determine whether minors had access to the machines. But the authority noted that many snack bars and other catering establishments had machines that were accessible to all.
The Dutch law says that there has to be ‘sufficient separation’ between the section open to the entire clientele and where adults only may enter.
