There is a proposal in the Dutch government to increase the current 29 per cent gambling tax rate to 29.5 per cent.

Representatives of the four parliamentary groups comprising the current coalition in the Netherlands have tabled an amendment in the Dutch Parliament that increases an earlier government proposal to raise the tax rate by 0.3 per cent.

The four parliamentary groups, the VVD, D66, CDA and CU, have between them a majority in the Dutch Lower House, reports Gaming in Holland, the news medium. This means that the proposal is almost certain to be adopted.

Another previous motion in the Lower House had suggested that the gambling tax should be cut to 25 per cent, but it was cancelled.
