On the heels of inking a multi-year agreement with American media company Turner Sports, and DraftKings (Nasdaq: DKNG) has now announced the launch of a mobile and online sportsbook in South Africa, in partnership with Peermont Hotels, Gaming and Resorts.

The South African gaming and hospitality group will utilize DraftKings’ advanced B2B sportsbook and platform solution to power the PalaceBet sportsbook (PalaceBet.co.za), the group’s first online sports betting venture.

Features access:

Courtesy of the collaboration, sports fans in South Africa will now have access to an array of sports betting features, including “Pulse Betting” and “Your Bet.” Meanwhile, data integrations with IMG and Genius Sports Group Limited subsidiary, Betgenius, will enable customers to wager on both local and international sports including cricket, basketball, cricket, football, rugby, and tennis, as well as Lucky Numbers.

Experience plus:

The joint effort will enable Peermont to leverage its considerable expertise in the land-based casino vertical to “bring a world-class level of service” to the red-hot online sports betting market and offer a one-of-a-kind betting experience to its players, according to the press release.

Also commenting on the tie-up, General Manager for PalaceBet, Iain Gutteridge, added that, “It was a no-brainer to partner with DraftKings,” and that…

“The way we’re looking to grow and to compete on an international scale, we knew that DraftKings could offer the software solution so that we could not only offer variety, but quality to our clients.”

Turner tilt:

As mentioned, the Boston, Massachusetts-based daily fantasy sports contest and sports betting operator recently entered into a partnership with Turner Sports, a division of AT&T Inc.’s WarnerMedia. The multi-year agreement will see it serve as the exclusive sportsbook and daily fantasy sports provider on select Turner Sports and Bleacher Report properties.

$5k Iowa penalty:

More recently, after failing to update its exclusion list by the agreed upon January 2, 2020 date, DraftKings agreed to pay a$5,000 penalty to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) for being in breach of its license requirements. The latter state that operator’s self-exclusion lists should be revised at least once every seven days, while DraftKings reportedly did not do so until January 3, missing the deadline by one day, according to a source.
