A ground-breaking ceremony was held last week on the large-scale expansion of Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River casino at Murphy, North Carolina, US.

The development, for the Eastern Bank of Cherokee Indians, is a US$275m expansion that currently offers just over 1,000 slot, 72 table games, 300-room hotel, bowling and F&B.

The expansion will nearly double the size of the hotel, increase the casino floor and add amenities such as spa and more restaurants.

Convergence Strategy Group provided assistance and analytical support for the project, assessing the viability of expansion plans under various future competitive and development scenarios.
