We understand that Derrick Burns, for some years the deputy chief inspector at the Gaming Board for Great Britain, has died at his home in Australia.
Burns, who left the board in 2004, died yesterday morning after a long battle against cancer.
After leaving the board he devoted some time to using his expertise in a consultancy capacity, operating out of his home in Australia and second home in Malaysia, working on a variety of gaming-related projects with his own company, Derrick Burns Associates Ltd.
He lived at Green Point, near Forster/Turncurry, on the north coast of New South Wales. He leaves a wife and children.
