Darren Elias earns GGPoker Super Million$ Win

The New Year has just begun, but online poker platforms like GGPoker are wasting no time in providing new and exciting gaming options to players. The iPoker provider has already offered players a Super MILLION$ event this year, with top players vying for the first-place finish. It would be Darren Elias who earned the win, bringing home $448,842 in prize money. The buy-in was $10,300, so the prize was pretty sweet boost for Elias!

In the end, the online poker event would whittle down to the final three; Elias, Niklas Astedt, and Ami Barer. Each of these players are top pros, so it was anyone’s game. Eventually, Barer was knocked out in third. On his final hand in the game, Barer was knocked out by Elias after calling with pocket 7s, failing to beat A-Q.  That would leave Elias and Astedt to compete in heads-up play.

When heads-up began, Astedt would hold the lead, with 14.1 million chips to Elias’ just over eight million. It looked like Astedt was going to claim the win. However, Elias began to gain ground and eventually pulled into the lead.

On the final hand, Elias was all-in and Astedt decided to call. Elias held A-7 while Astedt showed pocket queens. Elias was able to hit a pair on his Ace to knock out Astedt and claim the win.

Player of the Year

The event takes place just a short time after GGPoker announced its Player of the Year winner. The leaderboard race concluded at the end of 2020 and it was Marcin Dziubdziela, a player from Poland, who earned the win. He was able to defeat Paraskevas Tsokaridis in the leaderboard competition to claim the top prizes.

The leaderboard starts over for 2021 and will see players continue to compete throughout the year to earn points to take a top spot in the competition. Players can earn points from GGMasters events as well as Daily GGMasters and other options.
