Crown gets go-ahead to open in Sydney

The troubled Crown Resorts has been given the go-ahead to begin gaming operations at Crown Sydney.

The approval has been granted by the New South Wales Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority. Crown can only open its “members-only” gaming facilities at the location using a conditional licence that will expire on December 31 next year.

It will have to work closely with the authority and an independent monitor to demonstrate its suitability. Crown, with a much-changed management following the investigations into money-laundering offences, can now offer facilities across all of its resorts in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

The company built a high-rise hotel resort on a Sydney Harbour-side site at Barangaroo that has been functioning without the casino element until now.
