Consortium bidding for NY casino licence

The famous Coney Island in New York State is the site of a proposed casino, hotel and entertainment project from a consortium that includes Saratoga Casino Holdings, the Chickasaw Nation and Legends.

They will join Thor Equities in the bid that is now before New York State, which is planning to issue three licences in the coming months.

The traditional amusement park will be supplemented by the new project, the applicants believe. They want to emulate the Saratoga casino in upstate New York and also in Colorado (the Saratoga Casino Black Hawk is pictured) and Mississippi.

Sam Gerrity, CEO of Saratoga Casino Holdings, said: “My family has done business in New York for generations, including opening the first non-tribal casino in 2004.” His organisation will join with the experienced Chickasaw Nation in operating the venue.
