In southern France and local gambling and hotels giant Groupe Lucien Barriere has reportedly announced that it will soon commence work on a project to expand and renovate its casino in the seaside Var community of Saint-Raphael.

According to a Wednesday report from G3Newswire, the Paris-headquartered firm revealed that the scheme for its Casino Barriere Saint-Raphael is to involve the demolition of an adjacent brasserie devastated by a fire in June of 2012 so as to make room for a new 12,916 sq ft gambling-friendly space.

G3Newswire cited the facility’s general manager, Hilario Aznar, as detailing that the coming program is expected to be finished before the end of next year and will also encompass the construction of a 5,380 sq ft outside terrace offering views over Saint-Raphael’s historic harbor.

Aznar stated…

“It will be one of the most beautiful places in Saint-Raphael. On this terrace there will be a restaurant that will be at least double in size also with a lounge bar and a smoking area containing between 30 to 50 slots.”
