Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb Ruled out for Sunday’s Game vs. Arizona Cardinals

On Friday, October 15th, 2021 the Cleveland Browns announced that their NFL Pro Bowl veteran running back, Nick Chubb, has been ruled out for this Sunday’s week 6 match – up against the Arizona Cardinals. Chubb’s absence can be attributed to the calf injury Nick suffered last week in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

When the Cleveland Browns take on the Arizona Cardinals from First Energy Stadium located in Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 the Cleveland Browns will be relying on their back up running backs to fill in for Chubb for this highly anticipated AFC vs. NFC battle.

The Injury

The calf injury sustained by Nick Chubb occurred late in the game during the week 5 contest between the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Chargers in which Chubb rushed for a hard – fought 161 – yard gutsy performance. The Los Angeles Chargers eventually ended up defeating the Cleveland Browns in that game with a final score of 47 to 42.

Due to this what seems to be just a minor injury Chubb sat out the entire week of practice for the Cleveland Browns, and their second – string running back, Kareem Hunt, took over the role as the Cleveland Brown’s starting RB in place of Chubb. Hunt will definitely get the start this upcoming week against the undefeated 5 and 0 Arizona Cardinals. The Cleveland Browns’ back – up running backs, D’Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton, might possibly help carry the load for the next week or so until Nick is ready to return to the Cleveland Browns at full – strength.

“You never want to see a guy like Nick go down,” the Cleveland Brown’s running back Kareem Hunt explained. “Definitely, what he means to this team is crazy. We’ve got a lot of good backs. We should be able to hold it down until he gets back.

After last Friday’s practice, the Cleveland Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, was not ready to make a decision whether or not Chubb would have to spend some time on injured reserve list. If Nick does get placed on the injured reserve list by the Cleveland Browns the NFL’s injured reserve list protocol would cause Chubb to miss at least the next 3 games for the Cleveland Browns, but I do not anticipate Nick being put on the IR.

The Cleveland Browns’ superstar veteran wide receiver, Jarvis Landry, took a step in the right direction in his recovery from a knee injury that he suffered several weeks ago. Landry was designated to return from injured reserve list on Friday, October 15th, 2021 which cleared the way for him to practice once again with his dangerous 3 and 2 Cleveland Browns team. Stefanski said he would not rule out the potential for Landry to be activated for their week 6 match – up versus the surging Arizona Cardinals.
