Churchill Downs, the US gaming operator and owner of the Kentucky Derby horse race, has completed its purchase of another Kentucky racing operator in Ellis Park Racing and Gaming.
The consideration is $79m in cash and Churchill will also take responsibility for the construction of a track extension for its HRMs (historical racing machines) at Owensboro, Kentucky.
There will be 600 HRMs in the new site, states CDC Gaming Reports, and Churchill expects its total investment in the Henderson and Daviess Counties to be around $75m in addition to the purchase price.
