China’s threat to online gamblers

Home » China’s threat to online gamblers

China has reiterated its threat to its own citizens of retribution if they are caught offering online gambling.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to those who know that they are suspected of involvement in cross-border gambling, either land-based or online. They have to turn themselves in or face harsh punishment, reports GGR Asia.

China considers any online gambling operation that either targets or serves Chinese consumers – regardless of whether it is based inside or outside of China – as offering an illegal service. Those using such services or helping others to do so, are also liable to criminal penalties.
