Chile has stopped granting or renewing casino operating permits for 90 days.
The process was due to begin on July 27. The authorities have simply said: “It falls within the framework of the appeal for reconsideration presented by Casinos de Juegos de Talca SA (the operating company).”
The instruction was issued by the relevant authority, the SCJ, on Thursday of last week. The process from July 27 would have seen the delivery of technical and economic conditions modified by January 18, but now shifts that to April 19, 2021.
The reason given for the decision is the “state of constitutional exception of catastrophe” caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
