Gaming industry news services in Asia are reporting that Casinos Austria has entered the bidding process for the Japanese casino resort licence in Nagasaki.

Casinos Austria has its own Japanese subsidiary heading the bidding for the licence. The casino resort is to be built on land adjacent to the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo City.

Another bidder is Current Corp, a Japanese consortium and it is understood that there may be other companies poised to throw their hats into the ring.

The news of Casinos Austria’s interest came at the Kyushu Nagasaki Integrated Resort Business-Connect Seminar this week. Akio Hayashi, managing director of Casinos Austria International Japan, said that the company did not seek to build a location expressing “the gaudiness of Las Vegas or Macau” and said that the European-style casino would have the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as a permanent feature.
