Caesars Virginia in the US donated over $500,000 for a new hospitality and tourism programme at the state’s Averett University.

The Danville-located casino’s $504,000 will enable courses in the sector covering lodging operations, F&B management and areas of casino, facility design and club management.

At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity of an internship with a local hospitality partner.

Casino manager Chris Albrecht said that he hoped the programme would mean more highly talented employees becoming available in the casino industry.

“We have all seen the last couple of years that it’s been a lot harder to hire and find talent, so a partnership like this gives us a great place to go find great, diverse, potential team members for the future.”
