The Atlantic island group of Cape Verde has only one casino, the Casino Royal Sal, and it has seen a 122 per cent rise in GGR in 2021, compared with the virus-hit 2020.
The income during the year passed €1m, says the Ministry of Tourism, quoting figures from its gaming inspection authority.
The casino, on the island of Sal, had GGR of €477,758 in 2020, a 67 per cent drop on 2019 because of an eight-month closure during the pandemic. The rise in 2021 was to €1.06bn.
