Canada now has single-event sports betting capability following the passage of Bill C-218 in the Senate without amendment.


The Canadian Gaming Association has welcomed the ability to work with provincial partners of offer this new facility. Said Paul Burns, CEO of the CGA: “This is a major milestone and achievement for the Canadian gaming industry.

“The CGA has been working to legalise single-event sports betting for more than 10 years and this bill benefited from a groundswell of broad stakeholder support across the country.”

Following Royal Assent, the Canadian provinces will have the authority to deliver a safe, legal and controlled sports betting option to Canadians and to enact strong wagering regulation for the entire country.
