All of the casinos in Cambodia were closed by Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, reports Reuters.
Four new cases of the infection were reported in the country yesterday, bringing the total to 107, including a 30-year-old man who had worked in a casino and karaoke club in the north-west province of Banteay Meanchey, close to the border with Thailand.
The closure will have “a material impact” on Donaco International’s largest business, the Star Vegas Casino in Poipet, the company said today. The casino, like the others in the country, will close from midnight tonight.
Donaco said that it would “monitor developments in the Covid-19 situation and is focused on implementing mitigation strategies to minimise impacts to staff and to conserve liquidity.”
